With shopping carts the main purpose is to be able to add in items to the cart until the person is done with shopping. When they are done, they then can check out and either add in a coupon code if that is available to save money. If you do not have a coupon code, they can apply the shipping and handling fees to their shopping cart to get the final total. Then the person is lead to a payment gateway where they then pay for the items they ordered. The order then gets sent to the owner of the store to it can filled on time for them.
